Your health data stays on your device
Every cycle, period date, mood, symptom and note you record lives only in Vinca's private storage on this phone. We have no server for your health data and no way to read it โ it is never uploaded, sold, or shared. This is true whether or not you use Community.
Community, our anonymous space
Community is the one part of Vinca that leaves your phone, because it has to: it's a place to talk to other people. What you write in a post or reply โ the text, the pen name you chose, and the time you sent it โ is stored on our Google Firebase database and is public to everyone else using the app. Please treat a post as public writing, not a private note.
Community doesn't know who you are
Opening Community creates an anonymous account for your app โ a random identifier, with no name, no email, no phone number and no sign-up. It's what lets your posts stay yours across sessions and nothing more. Your pen name is whatever you pick, and it is the only thing other members ever see. Your cycle, dates, moods, symptoms and notes are never attached to a post and never sent to Community.
Keeping Community kind
You can report a post or reply, and you can block another member so you never see them again โ blocking happens privately on your phone, and the person you block is never told. Reports come to us with the post and its pen name so we can review them, and we may hide content or suspend an anonymous account that breaks the rules. If we suspend yours, the app tells you why and how to appeal.
Community notifications
If you turn on Community notifications, Apple issues this device a delivery token, which we store against your anonymous identifier so we can tell you when someone replies to you or mentions you. It identifies a device, never a person. Turn Community notifications off and we delete it. Period and journal reminders are separate โ those are scheduled by your phone and never reach us.
Anonymous app analytics
To know whether people are enjoying Vinca and to keep it stable, we use Google Firebase to collect anonymous, non-personal usage signals โ like the app being opened and which tab was viewed, plus a rough country from your IP. This never includes your cycle, dates, moods, symptoms or notes.
Crash reports
If Vinca ever crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends us an anonymous technical report (what went wrong and where in the code) so we can fix it. These reports contain no health information and nothing that identifies you.
Ads, and the choice that's yours
Vinca is free, and free is paid for by Google AdMob ads in the article reader. Before any ad loads we ask two things: your consent choice where the law requires one, and iOS's own "Allow tracking?" prompt. Say no and you still get the app in full โ just ads chosen without your advertising identifier. Say yes and Google may use that identifier to make them more relevant. Either way, we never hand your cycle, symptoms, journal or Community posts to an advertiser โ advertisers get no health data from us at all.
What we never do
We don't sell your data. We don't build health or advertising profiles about you. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number anywhere in the app. And we can't read your cycle data even if we wanted to โ it isn't ours to read.
Locked the way you like
Turn on Face ID or your passcode in Profile to seal Vinca shut whenever you leave the app, so your entries are protected by the same security that guards the rest of your phone.
You own your data
Export a full backup of your cycle history as a plain file any time, import it onto a new phone, or erase everything in a single tap. When you delete on-device data, it's gone โ there are no copies left behind, because there never was a copy.
Community works differently, since it lives on our server. You can delete any post or reply you wrote, and it disappears for everyone. To have your whole Community history and your anonymous identifier erased, email us at the address below from the app and we'll remove them, usually within a few days. We keep reported content and suspension records for as long as we need them to keep the community safe.
Gentle, not medical
Vinca's predictions are caring estimates, not medical advice, and shouldn't be used to prevent or achieve pregnancy. Always talk to a healthcare professional about your health.
